Joomla 2.5.1 - security release

The Joomla Project published first security release for Joomla 2.5.x and we recommend that everyone running Joomla 2.5.0 upgrade their version to Joomla 2.5.1. Interestingly, these weak points in security the current version of CMS were found by our countryman James GaƂczyk (IT Security Consultant).

Attacks on websites whose purpose is to block them, they are not complicated. As is generally the weakest element is the irreverent attitude of the administrator or editor of a website.

The Joomla Project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 1.7.3 and Joomla 1.5.25. This is a security release.

Joomla 1.6.4 - security release

Yesterday the Joomla Project has provided availability of Joomla 1.6.4. This security release corrects four security issues and fixes an issue relating to version upgrades. Note that the upgrade to version 1.6.4 should be done before upgrading to version 1.7.0 (due out in July).

Perhaps the biggest advantage and disadvantage of every OpenSource CMS is that anyone can download full source code, from any corner of the earth, at any time, without any restrictions. That's why, it's easy for an attacker to determine if your site is running Joomla!  All he has to do is to add "/administrator" to the URL and look for the login panel. He knows weak points, sometimes better than you.
