In general, there are a great many books on the market about the ever-popular Joomla Web content management system (WCMS), but as yet very few of them tackle the subject of Joomla version 2.5. So, to have a book on the subject coming out of Packt Publishing, we should all be very excited!

I thought nothing could surprise me on the subject comments functionality for Joomla 2.5 --- but I was way wrong! I am pleased to have discovered a wonderful new extension called Komento. It is a product of StackIdeas, the team behind the popular blog component, EasyBlog.

I sometimes wonder why, when preparing for the launch of Joomla 2.5, the Joomla team decided to remove the option to reset the number of article hits. In J1.5 this was a useful feature, especially in instances where an article had been modified (updated).

One of the latest components is AceFTP. This is fast and lightweight file manager component.

The Joomla Project made available for download Joomla 2.5.3. This is another security release, and site administrators are recommended to upgrade immediately to the new release. This just has the security fixes in it so it should be safe and easy to update. 

Since its release, the Joomla Project has published two security releases for Joomla 2.5.x. GavickPro recommends that all sites currently built on Joomla 2.5.x be upgraded to release 2.5.2. An interesting note is that the security weaknesses triggering the 2.5.1 security release were identified by fellow Polish countryman and IT Security Consultant, James Galczyk. We will try to interview with that person.

First of all I have to mention today's update of Joomla to version 2.5.2. This is a security release (Two Security Issues Fixed). The update process in Joomla is very easy (almost one click in Extension Manager) - so you don't have to update core files by FTPing them.

Last year was for the administrators of websites based on Joomla very interesting but also extremely stressful.

I'm so happy to inform you that expected, the next version of VirtueMart went through tonight's official launch. Component VM 2.0.2 (Official Update) is finally compatible with Joomla! 2.5 and contains many new features!

Previous versions of Joomla (notably 1.0.x, 1.5.x, and 1.7) required multiple steps to implement spam protection on your Joomla site. To enable this protection on the Registration or Contact pages, you had to download, install and configure a captcha plugin. Beginning with Joomla 2.5, you can quickly enable Captcha (ReCaptcha) from within the default Joomla installation!
