Updating Financial Business template - warning

Hello!
I am using template "financial business" version 2.6 (at least my extension manager says this).
Today I looked for template updates on your page and found version 2.11. ???
Is 2.11 a newer version than 2.6?
I installed "financial business" in february so it is "old" - your latest version is from July. How can I have 2.6 and you offer 2.11?
When I try to install the new version 2.11 following warning appeares:
"Template Install: There is already a Template using the named directory: Install. Are you trying to install the same template again?"
This is not the first time I am trying to update the template. I allways received this error message. I just never had time to post my problem and ask how to solve it.
Last time when I tried to update I choosed another template as default, deleted the gavick template, installed it again in newer version and all my settings were gone. I had to make a complete backup of my site by provider. I don't want to do same mistake again.
It would be very nice if you could help me!

You need to download template, connect via ftp and override all template files inside root/templates/gk_tpl_name

how can i make sure i keep the changes i made??

im updating postnote from july2011 to version 2.10

Use some tools to merge files - this is the only way is you make changes in other file than override.css. This is the reason why we advise to add all custom code to override.css file - this avoid this kind of problems.
