Hi, i am going to try and explain this as best as possible as i am not used to working with k2 that much.

What i have as an example is a page which is here

http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News

This page is news about ryanair

now because i am working in joomla and i am working with k2, and i am also making each landing page a front page, i am having problems.

I will try and explain my problem as best as possible. For the ryanair page which is a front page, i have to make a category and that category for all my content to go into is called ryaniar-news. Now i have the page above which is for ryanair news but the problem i have got is, because i have a category it brings up all the content as a blog format. so for example here is the category section in blog format. http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-news

Now i have managed to make sure that the articles are not showing but it brings up the title of the pages and i am worried that this will be seen as duplicate content and will damage the main page of http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News

I may have set everything up wrong i am not sure but if i have i would be glad if someone can tell me the right way to do it. I do not like the blog format and that is why i use a front page set up so i can have my layout the way i want it.

Can anyone please explain if my set up will damage the main ryanair news page or what i need to do to sort it out please.

Hi

I'm still not quite sure if I understood. I belive that You mean that when article link is clicked You have article on frontpage with all this articles around ? You can try disable any position or element throught the layout file, but I need to know exactly what You mean. Can You show this duplications on screenshot ?

Hi i thought i explained below but it looks like not properly.

The only way i can explain is,

i have this section which is a front page. http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News now i have named the category where i put my articles in as ryaniar-news

Now if you go to this link http://www.in2town.co.uk/ryaniar-news you will see all the headings that are on the main ryanair news page.

this is happening for all category sections because i am wanting to use front page instead of blog with k2.

so for every category i have, i have a blog layout with the headings and i feel this is damaging my site with google as it is classed as duplicate content.

I do not know of any other way to explain it.

so, when you want to have a front page and use something like news pro to display your articles, you need to set up a category and then link it from a menu, but what i am finding is, when i do this i am getting all the article headings showing as well as the articles in my main landing pages.

any help would be great.

Hi

I still am not sure if I understood Your problem properly, but it's related to lack of landing page. Basicaly each category needs it's own landing page, which means that a category layout in menu item is required. You can try and create this menu items in some dummy menu and than not show it on site at all.

basically what i mean is

here we have a url

http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-n ... mpensation

now the above url shows an article but if we take away the heading which is /ryanair-boss-angry-at-being-forced-to-pay-passengers-ash-cloud-compensation and just have
http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-news/ then that brings up all the headings from the articles in the category.

now i want it to stop from this as i feel this could be classed as duplicate content, i really do not know what other way to explain it.

if i was going to start a new category called ryanair news, then i would have to go to the admin on my site and choose k2 - categories - new - (and then choose a category name) which i have named ryanair news

now i have to connect the category to a menu which i have called dummy menu, i have to do this so i can put adverts or news on the top right column

but when i do this, i have the problem of having the above problem where the url will come out as either http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-n ... mpensation

or http://www.in2town.co.uk/ryaniar-news/r ... mpensation

and then we have the problem that the site is listing the categories. all the categories come up in google and using a service i use it comes up that the pages are duplicate

any help would be great.

Hi

I fianlly get it :) This is not something seo will find as duplication. It's simply a category name stored in link. Anyway You can optimize it more with using some 3rd party extention as sh404sef. I think You did this the correct way and if You ask me I would leave it like that.

ok thanks for that. i was worried that if i have a page that i do called ryanair news, which is here http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News

I was worried that the blog page would take the juice out of my main page. i thought that with the blog page below with all the titles about ryanair that it would take away the seo from the main page about ryanair. The last thing i want is for the my main to drop down in the rankings because google does not know which page to take as the main page for ryanair news and thinks the blog page below is the main page because it has all the titles that i have on the main ryanair news page

http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-news

Hi

What matter is link and as long it leads to the same page than there is no worry. It's treated no different than as with a module Latest or Popular which can show the same conten. Right ?
