Insert a link in the header

Should I put a button with a link in the header, the position that is defined userarea. The userarea is not a module, and if you use login or register to insert the button is not displayed.
I can also replace the position userarea with a true form because I do not need at that position.

so the only solution what I can suggest is to add additional module position.
