Did i download the right file?

I downloaded the quickstart, via FTP because when i try to install it via my joomla backend it just keeps opening up to other files. I uploaded it to /home/username/public_html/name/templates But i dont see it in my templates in the joomla backend now that i've uploaded it via FTP. Why is that, and did i upload the right file. Should i have uploaded the tgz file instead, if will it look like the demo?

follow the instructions to download the joomla template (more specifically pages 8-9)

but it's weird, i saw the gavick specific tutorial somewhere (maybe in some previous template i downloaded)
and i seem to do it automatically now, so i didn't even notice where the memovie quickstart tutorial is!

but the bottom line is: downloading is not enough: u need to activate the installation .and there's no need for u to download another file if the demo style is what u want

When i click the download button, memovie has 4 files, a tgz, rest files, documentation and another file. I was flustered at which one to download. So youre saying i should download that link u gave me?

the link i gave u is a general tutorial for joomla

documentation is a must for u to download to understand how to use the template
tgz and quickstart are almost the same in contents, but each is used for a thing: quickstart on a fresh installation
and tgz on an existing one
u should have uploaded tgz instead of the quickstart to the templates folder
but tgz doesn't exactly give u the look of the demo unless u do them manually (quickstart is a customized tgz)

rest_files contains "the rest of the files", u don't necessarily need them, but some do to customize their template

You can see the following video tutorialthat explains how to install the quickstart version. The video uses Pulse template, but the process is the same for every one, so it's not necessary to make the same video to all.

The video starts by introduce XAMPP (local server), but you can skip this explanation. A local server can be very useful to explore all the configuration easy and quick way, but the process to install it online is the same.

The basic online steps are these:

- Download quickstart package.
- Unpack quickstart package.
- Upload all quickstart files (like a normal joomla installation) to your website directory.
- Create a new database on your host cpanel.
- Open browser on your new website and make a normal joomla installation.
- Access administrator using Username as "admin" and Password as "demo"

Don't worry. It's very easy.
