removing the Top Menu

is there a way to totaly remove the top menu?
,y client (apparently) doesnt like it on top,and only wants a side menu.
is it possible to totally remove that menu (andnot by hacking and making it 0px high...)

hi.
i replied there - the path you suggested there is incorrect,the change needs to be made in the mainnav.php file.
but thanks for the reffeerence :-)
