with Joomla 1.5.20 the requirement of a "lost password" is

username and token.

the token is emailed to the "users email"

the problem is the "username" field in the gavick login script is missing the Username, you cannot retrieve a lost password.

can someone reply to a Gavick problem on this Gavick support forum?

I have posted now, 8 problems and zero response from any Gavick employee?

is this a support forum or not?

Rocketheme is slow but at least they will answer. this is NOT a custom build issue, its a Gavick script issue that fails on any of the Gavick templates.

the last time I had this problem I hired a programmer to fix YOUR template.

how about fixing it so its really a Joomla friendly template?

I don't think that this has to do with the template!
Can you please provide a link to your site ?

sure, would you like to see a working site not on gavick and one on gavick to see the difference? its easy to reproduce, load any gavick add login module and place it in the login position.
then, click lost password.

you will be asked to put in your email addy

then you will be emailed a token.

the problem is in Joomla 1.5.20 the Username MUST be supplied. the script Gavick templates uses only has a place for the token.

NOT the user name.. I that is straight out of the box of the memovie "tar" zip or quickzip, or any zip they have, the CORP 2 has the same problem.

but since you want to see it fail, let me send you two urls one NOT using Gavick the and one with..

here is the gavick demo memovie, http://recovery2day.net/

register works, but lost password is broken all day every day.. unless they fix this.
and if you want a Joomla notice on this known problem:

http://docs.joomla.org/Confirm_password_in_1.5.16

but since that was a problem in joomla 1.5.16 and this is now 1.5.20 and Gavick is making "things to purchase" on Joomla.. one would think they would fix a known problem? is it that having my expectations set to high?

fyi this is the same test site the menu for registered users doesn't work on the memovie also.. but no replies from any of the gavick pro's on that either.

they are pretty pretty templates.. just zero support when they don't preform "like" the highly glossed demo's. but you don't find that out until you give them money.

sorry for the "bad attitude" but I find the support form gavick nadda

did you see the problem?

it does require a php code edit to make this work. as i stated when I tried to use the gavick corp 2, the same problem is built in the template. I had to hire a programmer to fix gavicks template. my attitude is poor due to the amount of time, and money spent on getting a "commerical joomla product" to work. aka Gavick. for minor things like a login, registration and menus. all basic needs of any site.

I have heard from one gavick team member who told me he was short staffed and overworked.. I feel his pain.. literally I am paying for the short staffed problems of "no support"

this of course is "unethical" in my opinion, its a joomla template that at least in my mind, should work on joomla.

the menu system has problems also.. since the gavick menus do not allow a module position of "menu" at least corp 2 and memovie, so getting a registered user to see a different menu is not possible but since I don't get a reply this post goes without any answers. "a case of ignore" so i try to get some answers.. but zero so far.

Hi

As far as I can see You have already find the solution Yourself. There is an instruction on how to fix it: http://docs.joomla.org/Confirm_password_in_1.5.16

It was covered couple of times before on this forum.

I know i posted that link, you reference.
But I really have a problem with the callous attitude of who pays your salary.. I do.

here is the problem, if you KNOW there is a problem.. fix it on your template as was done since I raised hell about it.

telling me "looks like you found the problem" ? why not fix your template instead of waiting for a "paying customer" to tell you its broken.

test the product, before you release it and avoid issues like this. it was broken on 1.2 and its broken on 2.0.. and it will remain broken, unless someone "reads this link.

at least now you offer a zip to fix what should have never happened, this problem was Joomla 1.5.16

no excuse needed, its joomla 1.5.20 now.. as you well know. but as a paying customer of your product, it took a week to find this problem, as I stated earlier, I had to pay a php tech in india to fix it for me.
Unlike you I do not make my money from templates. I buy them with the intent they work.

I will try to use the gavick template.. but not really happy about the attitude or support.

and while i have your ear, please listen to what is being said. You make a living from this, so you need customers. not the ones that love you, the ones that tell what to fix.
