Hi,

I am attempting to get the facebook login working on a site, I am attempting to modify the Magazine quick install I have setup on my own server. (I am perfectly willing to believe it is a misconfiguration server side as I'm new to that)

I have followed the guide located at https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... k-feature/

It allows me to login using facebook but then boots me to a page displaying the following message.

"0
Oops, you've encountered an error
It appears the page you were looking for doesn't exist. Sorry about that."

Returning to the front page I am still not logged in. What am I missing?

Many thanks!

Hi

Can You please disable SEF links ? I'll be able to observe if url is changing while loging with facebook.
Try also disable all NSP modules just for test. I've seen such problem before and the reason was that NSP was linking to a none existing article, so lets exclude such situation.

Done.

If you require a login to the admin side, that isn't an issue. It's still just a basic test site at the moment.

Hi

Yes please send it to me, because disabling SEF doesn't gave a different result than just index.php in url.

Hi

Programmers checked it, but they think that API is incorrect or it's not configured to allow registering. Can You please check it ?

I have double checked the API key and cut and pasted it into both locations. I reset the secret and cut/pasted it into the template social API.

Registration is enabled in the User options. However I have noticed that the REGISTER url is set to #. Pretty sure this is something I have not altered, where should this point to?

Cheers

Hi

We need some more informations. Here is what programmers said:

I think I need FTP details to debug why the script is not working, but for 99% I'm sure that the domain is wrongly set in FB or application type is wrong. Please also ask for screen with this details from fb page.

Same issue. I actually had it without the index.php originally. It was added when I was trying other things to try and make it work. :(

Ok, before we go any further with this and waste a lot of your time, if this was working correctly, would the following be possible.

The ability to register via facebook, but not have access to registered parts of the site until the facebook login is vetted by an admin? Or does the facebook login only allow immediate access?

In addition, I notice that the 'Register' link now goes somewhere but gives an error also. Is this an error with the Quickstart pack I used? Or is it something I have done?

Cheers!

Hi

Register wrong link is probably something I've tried, so do not worry about this now. When programmers will fix the problem than I'll change this as well.

Facebook login is a quick way to register and access website. You can hide a link to default joomla registration, but You cannot block it, since it's build into joomla and anyone with a knowledge of this system knows a link to display a register form. Anyway You can set it to be activated by administrator, so noone using this method will not be registered without Your permission.

Hi

Some more informations from programmers:

I've checked this case, and there is a problem with including facebook class in code. I've checked most of user directories and in most of them file permissions are wrong, please ask to set proper file permissions for /plugins and subdirectories and re-install authentication plugin.

Hi, thanks for getting back again quickly.

Ok, something I have done incorrectly. What are the correct file permissions? As I understood it, all directories should be set to 755 and files to 644. Is this correct?

Cheers!

Hi

In most cases. Please check if it's like that.

They were all set to 777 due to be not setting the owner right.

I have set the owner and group back to www-data and all the directories are now set to 755 and file to 644.

I uninstalled the Facebook Authentication plugin, reinstalled it. Sadly seems to be doing the same. Just gives the '0' page again.

Is this looking like a server config error on my part? I will attempt to upload to a proper server to see if that helps the situation.

Ok, I have uploaded it to a proper webserver and it works fine. I can't apologise enough for wasting your time, it seems I still have a lot to learn regarding setting up a private server.

So one final question, how best to set up so that I can vet facebook logins. At the moment, anyone who logs in is set to 'Registered'. But this is the setting I want for people I vet.

Once again, sorry for the run around.

All the Best
Ian

Hi

No problem.

You can set a new group and set permissions in joomla panle users section. There You can also choose which group should users go when logged it. Please check joomla documentation for details, this is not a part brought by our products.
