Header size too big?

I edited the original header_bg file and did not resize yet the image is a lot bigger than it should be on my website

how do i rescale?

Try go to Components->Gavick Photoslide GK3 and click Manage group. Then choose your group and click to edit it. Here you have options Image width and Image height try edit them.
