Login problem on mulitlanguage site

Hello!
I created a 2-language site in German and English.
There are 2 links on the site to log in - one of them is: http://www.jochen-meier.com/rso/index.p ... wnload-rso.
I did not set the normal gavick login position in my login module. I created a login module and placed it on position mainbody_top because I wanted some text around and position of login in the middle of the page.
Now when you login on German page (this is the main language) you will stay on this site and get possibility to download some files. When you change laguage to English and login you will be redirected to a page where you can edit your profile. And this is absolutely not what I want, because I don't want to give those users the possibillity to edit their profile. I also can not control layout here. No idea how to do it and I tried a lot.
First I thought it's a bug of the translation component, but then I changed default template to beeze and there it works. So now I think it's a problem of my gavick template.
Another thing is when you type in a wrong login (on German or on English site) a system message appers on top and also here you will be redirected to a user side, where my complete layout changes and I have no control over it. In beeze template also a error message appers but you stay where you are and have another try.
I give you a login it's gavick and gavick to try out what happens there.
I hope you can help me with this!!!!! Best regards Katrin

Can you rename following folders and test again please. You can add "test_" in front of folders.
Test 1 folder at a time.
Code: Select all
\templates\gk_finance_business\html\com_users
\templates\gk_finance_business\html\mod_login

Hello!

I tried it but nothing changes.

I also notice that in your demo template financial bussines position of system message is not on top above the pagetop it appears below the menu. On my side this message is 100% wide on the screen, in the demo template it is just as wide as the template (maybe 960px). But this just by the way. My main problem is the confusing login behavior. I hope you can give me another tip to solve this.

Hello again!

To check if I did something wrong, I just made a fresh installation with joomla 2.5.1 stable and gavick template financial bussines. No content no other components or plugins. I tried out log in and also here after a wrong login you will be redirected from http://jochen-meier.com/gavick/ to http://jochen-meier.com/gavick/index.ph ... view=login. If you need login data to check this please let me know.
I checked your demo template again. Here you will not be redirected anywhere you just stay where you are even after wrong login. Maybe this will help you to find out what's going wrong?!
Best regards! Katrin

Can you please send me an ftp account and admin access to joomla where i can try my theory as i still believe it has to do with html folder. If its working with Beez template and not on Gavick template then it is to do with html folder as that is where all the custom styles and codes are and system first check for that folder if it does find it and find the name of the component or module in there then it will read that folder otherwise it will default to joomla component / module style or coding.

Please check your website and see if it is how you wanted. I have installed a free extension which redirects all login attempts to a page you specify in this case downloads page.

You can also create a user group called "customers" and set the redirect based on that usergroup.

Let me know how it goes. See you around...

Hello Norman!

Thanks for your kind help.
I checked it and still find 2 problems:
1.) When you login on "second" language (i.e. English) you will be redirected to german login-page.
So now a "English" user can login and he stays on download page but with wrong language.
2.) When you type in a wrong password you are also on another page than on the login page.
It always goes to ...rso/de/component/users/?view=login.
I still think it's a little issue of the template. Sorry to keep you working on this subject.
Best regards! Katrin

Here is following;

Changed redirection so it stays on where ever you log in from. This works in both languages.

Login link in your bottom footer menu in this case needs to changed to download page so this works otherwise when they login they will be on same page which is an article as far as i can see.

Checked unsuccessful login and it redirects to com_user login page, disabled all custom htmls for logins in gk template however this still occurs so can you check this out with beez template as i wasn't sure if your site is live getting traffic right now so i didn't try.

Let me know how you get on. See you around...

No traffic on this side! This is my development side.
The original side is online under another address.
Please try out what ever you think is neccessary!

Best regards!

Please check your site now as it is working as how you wanted.

1. Login works in both languages.
2. Login works if you switch languages.
3. Unsuccessful login redirects to download page so in a way stays in same page.
4. Login from other links works as above.
5. Login from other menu items works same as above however if you have modules assigned in download rso assign them to show in login menu item as well so style looks same.
6. Do not update plugins as they are changed from default.

Now buy me a beer ;) See you around...
