Spammers killing me. I need to turn off REGISTER link

I'm getting about 50 bogus members a day that appear to have a script to try and get membership.
I need to either turn off the default REGISTER link at the top of the template.

The login and register settings in the template configuration appears to be for the mobile menu and template not the default one.

I need to turn off the default register link.
Thanks for any help

Go to your Joomla admin and select Users/Users-Manager from the menu.

Select Options from the top/right.

Choose "Allow User Registration: NO"

Hope this helps.

Aside from disabling it you can integrate a captcha so that these scripts cannot register.

Regardless these are more than likely bots that are registering and no matter what registration tool you use. If the bots find it and for sure they have targeted you, they will continue to plague you with bogus users without the use of a tool like captcha. Even so nothing is going to stop them from registering on your site if they are human and can read the system.

I run quite a few membership sites and I am continually monitoring them and deleting bogus users. Sorry to say but that is the price you must pay for offering this type of a site.

exactly what i was looking for, glad i stumbled upon this. tested, and works perfectly!

NOTE: if you have a popup registration type thing on your site, you wont see the reCaptcha right away, until the user hits submit , then they are redirected to a normal registration page where all their info is still intact, but they are met with the reCaptcha.. works for me!

thanks again.
