Error - Theme calling home - asking for login

I just installed a fresh Gavick theme (Fest) and I get a login popup that says it's for staff only.

Additionally, I get a 401 error with the theme trying to load:

Is this related to the JSON import data for theme settings?

How do I turn off any calls to Gavick?

Hi,

Please make sure that the fields (especially the media uploader ones) in the Theme Branding and Back-end branding are filled with your domain - not with any *.gavick.com domain. We are investigating this problem, but currently we cannot reproduce it on our test quickstart installations.

The sample data references the gavick domain which looks to be causing the error.
Removed the domain and the notice goes away.
