One of the most frustrating things on any forum is when the page times out while you're gathering the information. All that typing trying to explain my issue have to be re-done again. You need to set a reasonable time out for the forum.

There's an issue with the Facebook Authentication plugin. When the "Log in with Facebook" button is clicked, the popup shows as it should, but when you enter your FB credentials and click the login button and the FB login window closes, the site page shows "Facebook" entered into the User Name field with some password. Soon after the page is redirected to the registration form (all fields blank) and an error/system message appears at the top, saying:
The words you typed did not match the ones displayed. Please try again.

When you try again after that first time, the FB login doesn't pop-up. It instead fills in the User Name with "Facebook" and some password and then throws another error/system message, saying:
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.

..and then redirects again to the registration form.

It will keep doing this until the website cache is cleared.

There is also a noticable difference in how the login page looks the first time it loads (proper) and after the failed attempt.

- First load and after website cache is cleared:

- After failed attempts and before website cache is cleared:

Even the HTML codes looks different.

- Before login attempts:
Code: Select all

Does any one have any idea what could be causing this and also how to fix it? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Konrad,

Thank you for responding. I downloaded and installed the template about a week ago. Have there been a newer release since? I can't tell as there are no version numbers attached to the downloads.

Hi Again,

I have v3.7 installed... I see also that v3.8 is out. I will upgrade and see if this fixes it. Thank Konrad.

I upgraded FEST to v3.8 (including all the plugins). The issue remains the same as before. Tried it in Firefox v18, Chrome v24 and IE9. All behaved the same way.

Any idea what could be causing this? Could this be a bug?

Ok just in case this could be the issue, I'm running the installation on PHP v5.2.17.

The minimum PHP version number Joomla 2.5 needs to run is PHP 5.2.4, please ask your hosting company to update your php version.

No disrespect intended Konrad but I don't think this has anything to do with PHP version. Joomla 2.5 will operate just fine on 5.2.17 (although I do agree that you should upgrade to 5.3+ anyway as all new/good extensions require this as a minimum).

I think you might find that the problem causing the loading of the registration page and "The words you typed did not match the ones displayed. Please try again." error after logging in with Facebook is caused by a conflict when running both Joomla core & K2 recaptcha enabled.

The easy way to determine if that is the problem is simply go to Global Config -> Default Captcha - select -None Selected- and save. I think you will find the problem has gone away. You could also try testing it another way: leave the default Joomla captcha set to recaptcha and disable spam protection (recaptcha) in K2's global parameters. Problem hopefully gone.

Of course, doing either of these means that either the K2 registration page now has no spam protection or the Joomla core (Contact, etc...) has no spam protection....

The way to get around that: leave K2 registration enabled with recaptcha protection. Disable Joomla core recaptcha (in global config & the recaptcha plugin) and install another captcha plugin (not recaptcha) from the Joomla Extensions Directory. There are several available: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/site-security/captcha. Just don't forget to set & save the new captcha plugin in global config

You can also disable K2's registration and revert to the Joomla core registration, with recaptcha enabled.

I hope it works for you. It did for me. Good luck.
