HI,
*apologies in advanced, a rookie here..

I have installed creativity_J!3.zip and have couple of questions after i have spend hours with youtube.

1. After i installed the template my "home" looks nothing like the template demo. I do not have "What we do" part that everybody is desperatelly trying to remove/edit. is that correct?

2. Building on the question 1, i also did not get any modules in Module extension from creativity template. Is that correct?

Thank you (and sorry, but you will hear a lot of me :) )

web: joinchand.com

PS Maybe you can recommend a good video tutorial?

Hi,
please read: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... t-package/

Have you got a car? If yes.
Template = is like paint and sheet metal
Modules = are like all stuff inside car: seats, lights, counters, wheel
CMS Joomla = is like engine with real bodyshell
QuickStart = whole car from car dealer/car showroom

So if you installed only template you need all stuff inside.

Sorry Gavick don't have. Only written docs: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/ca ... iguration/
That's why if you're beginner install Quickstart on separate subdomain or folder to check how it works.

Oscar, thank you very much!
(kinda wish i found that documentation before not to come out that stupid..but well..)

I uploaded and extracted the quickstart.
I also have set up a SQL database.

Now according to the help documentation i should go to my site (joinchand.com) and magic should happen...but it does not.
What am i missing? should i link SQL somehow?

Thank you for all the great help!

Whoop-whoop i solved it :)

But now i have another problem.

I somehow loaded the template on http://joinchand.com/gk_creativity_quickstart_J30/

instead of just joinchand.com.

Can i fix that in an easy way?

Thanx!

sure, as easy as possible.
Copy all files from /gk_creativity_quickstart_J30 folder to root folder,
probably you have to override all "old" files.
In some Hosting panels there are File Manager which can help you do this in less than 3 minutes,
if not ....
1) make a tea
2) on your PC/Mac unzip quickstart again and by FTP upload all files and folders from into root folder
expect /installation (this you don't need
2) from /gk_creativity_quickstart_J30 copy only configuration.php file into root,
but before inside check if there is any " gk_creativity_quickstart_J30" phrase - if yes, delete.
Now you can upload into root folder.

Done

..and where is my tea :D

Oscar!!!

I thought i would write this to make your day better (i often get to work with idiots, so i know how it feels).

Soo.. i read your instructions (and i am a type of person who just does things without reading till the end).

So i read.. move all the files to root folder. (not that i know what root folder is, btw :) ). So i take each and every file from quickstart package and move it all (yes aaall the way!) the way up. (Smart me i took a screen shot of which folders and files i am moving, i thought, as if i could not go back and unzip the thing again).

I sit all smart.. reload my page.. and ERROR!!! hmm..

I got back to instruction and make a cup of tea!

I read again and then magical thing in my head, called "brain activity", happens! Root folder, what the heck is that? I make a uneducated guess and move it all (mind installation folder) to public_html folder. No hesitation, like i totally knew it was it. I feel very proud of myself right now!

But i do have a question :) (sorry..)

Given i messed around with ftp now so much that if any professional ever sees it i would have to pay his funeral expenses, do you think there is any point to start start from the very begging? can you reset ftp to default before my magic hands touched it? i think the site template actually looks ok, but what do i know?!

Thank you! .. tea is getting cold :(

and while i am at it, i have one proper question.

Template comes with color themes, but i need to change it to RGB: 128/0/0 color.(red wine-ish).

How is this done? custom css? magic?

Thank you!

My mistake I forgot to use magic phrase "/public_html", but I'm lucky one, that you found out at least.

Just delete all folder from SERVER ROOT and from gk_creativity_quickstart_J30 folder
and you don't have to reset anything.
Of course leave all files in /public_html .
Relax.

This is like room, you can trow away some trash, but you can always use vacuum cleaner or ask for a .... maid. hehehe.
If you need private Joomla lessons, no problem just send PM.
