Help with product listing options

Hello,

I am using the gk_bikestore template with Joomla 3.0 on my website to create an online outdoor equipment store.

I am trying to display the product listing similar to something along the lines of the following:

I believe that this can be done by using VirtueMart but since that is not supported on Joomla 3.x I had to workaround by duplicating and customizing the News Show Pro GK4 extension. I now have something that looks like the following :

I quite a newbie with Joomla and building websites and learning as I go along. So my question is whether this method is the recommended way of doing something like this ? If there is a better way then I'd appreciate some advice on how to go about it.

This depends on what is it you are trying to achieve.

If you are after only visual look then it looks fine, otherwise explain in more detail what you want to achieve.

I was hoping to create something like what you see in the demo for the bikestore template. See attached screenshot :

I understand in visual look, but how would you display prices and what would be the function if user decides to purchase.

Allow me to rephrase my question. I want to create the shopping page much like what you see in the gavick demo. I am using the News Show Pro GK4 extension to do just that right, the question is whether there is a better extension available and compatible with Joomla 3.0 that allows me to get the same look and feel as that shown in the demo ?

You cannot replace shopping cart functionality with News Show PRO module. Our module is only for display and visual purpose which gets the data from such shopping carts and displays them and links are then linked back to this shopping cart.

So you need to search in joomla extensions for shopping cart extension which is compatible with joomla v3

yeah well, I didn't know any better when I started building out my website. I am already three weeks into it and I didn't want to start again from scratch but it seems like I might have to do it anyway.

Anyway thanks, your response demolishes the last ray of hope that I had about trying to push through in spite of my earlier lack of judgement.

If you have already spend time in your current website then other alternative is to use joomla 3 compatible shopping carts, problem with these are that either they are commercial and or not supported by News Show PRO modules.
