Sometimes I really feel myself like an idiot... Like, well, right now - how do I get favorited articles (NON-K2) to showup on frontpage in this template? thanks.

Hello,

In this case you should specify the homepage menu item type as a featured articles and then disable all modules on the mainbody module position.
