Hi,

My webpage must be in multi-language (based on Joomla, not by third party components). Also, making specific template for every language is not the professional solution.

But, as I have discovered, it is not possible? Because I can only choose one menu in the template manager...?

So, if I make a Main Menu for every language, it is no use for that? I hope I have figured it out wrong...

Of course it is possible using default Joomla! language filter, configuration you can find here >> http://www.gavick.com/documentation/questions/configuration-multilanguage-site-with-joomla-1-7/

Yes thank you! Actually, I was aware of that, but I can't get the menu to the right position (as in Startup demo, next to the logo)... The module position should be Menu1? or...

I can only disable/enable the "Show template menu" in the template configuration, but this is the menu, that I don't need... (I am guessing this template menu should be disabled in multi-language sites anyways?)

The tutorial you posted me in the last post did not include the templates configuration for multi-language site.

Btw I have done many multi-language Joomla 2.5 sites with Yootheme templates, so I know how to do them in general..

So, how can I get it work? :)

You select only one menu in template settings the main one. Then all items you create in this menu but for particular language. After changing language some menu items will disappear and template show only this for your selected language.

Same problem here.
I followed all instructions for configuring the language switcher (2 different manuals).
It is assigned to module position "lang". Language switcher is not showing up...

1. Set up languages, modules
2. Created menu for each language with home
3. emptied cache etc.

After reading in your forums, knowledge base etc. I still can't find a solution that works. Is this function broken in the StartUp theme ???
In my opinion, the instructions for setting up a multilingual site with Gavick Templates should be updated.

Any suggestions to achieve the desired result?
All I expect is a simple text dropdown language switcher just to the right side of "sign-in".

If the dropdown switcher don't show any langauge that means that your configuration is wrong and this is not related with template. Please switch to 'beez' and see the result - language choose will be also blank. Please make sure that you have created 'Content' languages not just install language packages. Solved display of language switcher with help of your manual.
Which files do I need to edit to move the [lang] module to the right side of "login" in the navigation menu? I have found the module in layouts/default.php. Is it enough to modify only this file?

Yes you only need to modify this file so please cut the 'lang' code and place in new position wherever you want to.
