Hello,

In the administrator of my existing News site, the note "Joomla 3.3.0 available | Update Now" appears.

Does this mean that it is just a matter of clicking the said block to upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to 3.0?

I checked the Joomla site forum, and there is a forum post dealing with the upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to 3.x. The process is more involved (not the simple click, indicated in the administrator page of my News site.].

I don't think this is that easy process - but you can always make a backup of your site files and database and try the update.

Also if you are using VM, please check if they have provided working version of VM for Joomla 3.3.

Thanks Cyberek,

What I plan to do is create a duplicate website, in the directory "/usa/" and use that to test the upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to 3.3.

Here's what I did and plan to do so far:
# I downloaded the files and directories of the website previously created
# I am uploading the said files and directories to the "/usa/" directory
# I will create a separate database for the said duplicate website
# I will download also the "database" file from the existing website and upload it ti the created database

First, I have a very slow internet connection where I am visiting right now in the Philippines, and can be interrupted any moment during the download and upload. Right now, for example, it says that it will take more than 12 hours to upload.

How do I ensure that I have all the files (within each of the directories) are ALL uploaded -- to ensure complete Joomla files and directories. [I can check that the main directories are complete, but it would be very difficult to check manually that the subdirectories and files within each of the subdirectories are indeed completely uploaded.]

Is there a way to check complete upload or download?

I have more questions later.

Cornelio

There is no easy way to check if files are transferred correctly.
I can help you if you provide me with ftp details and info from which folder to which folder you would like to copy the files.
It would be even better if you had access to a shell account on your server - than it is a matter of seconds - you just run command to copy files and folders like they were on your local machine.
