Search and Login module positions not showing

Hello, I've installed a fresh J1.7 installation, installed the Gamebox Magazine template and started to create the modules and articles. However, the 'Login/Register' and 'Search box' aren't showing up in the template, nor are they even selectable when creating modules.

I've installed the Quick Start as a secondary site as well and have gone back and forth to see what might be different but can't seem to notice anything.

Do I need to install a Gavick Tool for Login and another for the Search so they will work properly the way your demo template does?

The site is only on my localhost right now so I don't have a URL to give you yet. Hopefully this makes sense though and it might be an easy answer for you that is often asked.

Please help. I really appreciate it.

Hi
You need to publish login module in login position and gk_register module in register position.

Unfortunately, I don't have the modules "Login" or "Search" as options even when I haven't filtered any of the selections at top right of the modules window/popup.

Everything else is working perfectly. I have placed the two screenshots of what I see in the 'unfiltered' popup window here:
http://38west.com/login.png
http://38west.com/search.png
http://38west.com/preview-module-positions-on.png

It's like these two modules aren't available to choose. Not sure what is wrong. I tried reinstalling the template as well and still doesn't work.

Is there something I'm supposed to select, or didn't select, in the template options? Or, is there something else I can try?

Should I host it up somewhere and let you have access? Would that help?

Before you host it up somewhere, download gk_magazine_rest_files_J!17.zip. Unpack here nad in modules folder you will find mod_gk_register. Install it.

I'm all set here. Did some searching and was able to make your last suggestion work! Thank you so much.

Solved.

I have the same problem, and I've searched and searched but can't find information anywhere about how to get Search, Login and Register to work. I don't even have a module position called Search available. I hope you can help.

Hi

You just need to publish default joomla! login module on "login" module position.
Install gk_register module (comes with the rest files package) and published on "register" position.
About the search, you just need to publish default joomla! search module on "search" position.

Cheers

Impossible.
You must have "search" position on Game Magazine template.

Module Login .... login position
Module GK Register ........ register position
Module Search .............. search position

I've just redownloaded the template and reinstalled it for the third time, just to make sure, but you can see here that there's no position called search in the template. There isn't a position called register or login either.

The only changes I've made to the template were via override.css and involved the background and a colour box suffix.

I just thought I'd say that I found the solution. Instead of filtering the Game Magazine template when choosing a module position, I filtered using the position name (search, register, login) and even though they came up as being in a different template (Music City in this case), I chose this position and it worked. I hope that makes sense.

I've got the same issue here.... I just want to drop a menu in the search position and that is it. There is not a position assigned to the template when I try and choose a position.

... when I publish the module though it does appear by instead of left to right it is vertical..

What do I need to do for this to work?
Thanks

For anyone trying to do something like this- i found this post further down...

https://www.gavick.com/forums/game-maga ... 14116.html

Here is my URL: http://www.treybraids-designs.com/mras-law/

I did make one adjustment to the css- I added text-align: right;

I created an HTML Mod and dropped it in the position and put my links there...also adding some social icons there as well... Kind of a poor man's menu across the top...
