JCE + Template = crazy weird bullet points

So I've gone ahead and disabled they typology to get rid of check marks being placed OVER bullets. But I now have bullets that will:
not appear
appear but be at a negative indent
appear but be flush with the article

I for the life of me can't seem to find a proper solution.
What I've done:
Disabled Typology
Different editors

Thoughts? I've read it might need a custom CSS to get the bullets to work correctly.

typography* not typology ugg I'm dumb.

Wondering if I can edit the typography css files to change the bullets to something normal with proper indenting? Would that be a good train of thought without damaging the overall template of the site?
