Menu "end item level" not respected on dropline/split menus

It appears as though choosing a menu type other than GK Extra Menu, such as SK Split or SK Dropline (which is default for Boutique template) causes the template to disregard the "end item level" parameter which sets the max number of submenus to display.

The functionality work to limit the submenus on GK Extra Menu, but with same settings and menu switched to one of the two other menu types all menu levels are displayed. Furthermore level 3 seems to have odd spacing issues when a 4th level is found.

How should I go about setting the end item level for my dropline menu?

Hey Don, I'm currently working on a localhost but should have the rest of the project done and live in the next week or so.

In the meantime I would certainly appreciate your expertise to take a look. I've double checked the issue against the Boutique template quickstart and the issue is still present. You can replicate the issue by opening the template manager for boutique and adjusting the end item to 1 for DropLine. You will see that the menu does not limit the end items for the main menu.
