What happend to my site?

Hello,

I suddendly happened to get my site completely unreachable.

I can access the administrator, but if you go to the site you get an error saying:
"Errore 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Errore sconosciuto" (with Chrome)
With firefox the error message says "compression not valid or not supported"

I restored a previous (working) backup (database included), but the result is the same.

I tried to disable the gzip compression and the site comes back alive, but the frontpage template is a little messy (tabs went on the top - see images attached)

Besides if I switch to another template the site becames alive again; but turning back to Boutique makes the site still unreacheable

I did not do anything to the configuration since many days ago, and the site was fully working till this morning...

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi,
probably your hosting don't support GZip compression. Please disable it. To fix issue from attachment please try add ' nsp' suffix to gk_tabs module.

Thank you...

I set up gzip compression several days ago and meanwhile the site continued working... why now it stopped?

Ok ok I will disable it... even I dont' understand why the problem happend just several days _after_... :( and if my hosting did not support gzip, why it works with another template????

I put nsp, _nsp, 'nsp' in the Module suffix (basic setting) of Tabs GK5ver. 1.1, but the tab keeps staying overthere up in the sky... and why it went up there only now??? I did not change anything...

I just want my site back!!!

Hello, thanks for your answer

after several trials that's what I understood:

1) turning off gzip makes the site reachable, but the tab GK5 is moved where it's not supposed (see picture of my previous post) and even not working...

2) turning on GZIP makes ONLY the frontpage not reachable (the ONLY ONE that contains the GK5 tab); I can see normally all the other pages

So maybe there's something wrong with the tabGK5 configuration (even if, as I mentioned before, I DID NOT change any TAB configuration recently); please see images attached with my actual (and even past) configuration.

The strange thing is that I restored a backup copy (DB+files in a different folder and different database) of 27 July (perfectly working at that time), but the problem still exists...

The url (temporary site still in progress) is: http://eventiecongressi.it/orafonew/

Now the gzip is OFF.

For the record: GZIP was "ON" since several weeks ago without problems; moreover the gzip issue does not affect any other page but the ones with the tab module... and the tab module was in the site from the very beginning, so it's not a recent add...

I may give you admin access by sending you a PM (please tell me how to do that: I don't know how to)

Thanks

Thank you, I will be glad to give you access both to FTP and Admin, but I already asked HOW can I send you a PM???

I need you could help me both in updating the template, and trying to fix the tab/header2 that went on its own upthere...

Thanks,

Issue with tab happend becasue last tab was a module published in 'tab4' position. But I checked and there is no module published in 'tab4' position.

Thank you... do you know why there were nothing in tab4 position?

Because I did not add any product in the latest week, so the _LATEST_ VMmodule decided that one week is not enough short to show the _latest_ product... if a product is THE latest, you should think that is the last one you added regardless of the date you added it!!!!!!!

So a week passed since my last product addition, and the module emptied, so the template decided that an empty module is to be shown in a different place it's supposed to be: on the top of the page!!!

BOTH THESE THINGS DROVE ME CRAAAAAAAZYYYYYYYYYY FOR THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!! AAARGGGGGHHHHH!!!

From VM Forum (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?t ... .msg326077):
File: administrator\components\com_virtuemart\models\product.php
Line: 387
$date = JFactory::getDate( time()-(60*60*24*7) ); //Set on a week, maybe make that configurable

after the *7 add a *52 for the last year

Further it's not normal that if you set gzip on, the empty module makes the tab crazy, and the pages where tab is included unreachable
