Simplicity Sidebars

I'm testing the simplicity theme. It appears the sidebar widgets do not appear on mobile. I'm wondering whether this is a feature (where I can turn this on/off somewhere?) or a bug, or whether it's my responsibility to modify the theme to make it more responsive.

If you look on desktop mode, this has a text widget in the sidebar.

I'm looking at my chrome notebook, and there's no text widget below.

Also, is there a clear set of instructions on how to implement? I replaced the header image using the native wordpress setting. But it doesn't show up on mobile. It's supposed to be a picture of scottsdale arizona, but on my smartphone it's still the stock image.

OK I sorted out the issue w/ the sidebars.

I'm still uncertain about updating the header image.

I's still showing the stock photo; not the one I updated.

Another images (smaller) are loaded because of mobile/tablet optimization. Please change the images from: Simplicity/images/header_tablet.jpg and header_mobile.jpg.
Use your own image with the same filenames.
