displaying excerpt text on the blog page

Hi!
I have problems with displaying excerpt text on the blog page. The length of texts is usualy random (most likely it depends on --more sign in the post). The length of excperpt cannot be changed in the settings (it does not work on my site).

Also: Theme does not use the excerpt field from the post, but the first words from the content. I'd like to use excerpt with different text than the beginning of the post.

Also: I'd like to display excerpt in the News Show Pro widget, instead of beginning of the post.

Are there any easy solutions for my problems?
If needed I can PM the login and pass.

In the News Show Pro you can display only beginning of the post. In regards to the posts, did you change this option: Excerpt length (in words) from template options -> advanced tab?

I was controlling the length of the exceprt wiht use of advanced tab.
My problem was that my blog page displayed "the_content()" instead of "the_excerpt()". But if found solution in the basic settings : ENABLE "Show read more on the frontpage". I think the option description should be more precise here.

I think it would be great to have possibility to display excerpts also in NSP (excerpt when exist, else begining of post).
