Sidebar dimension change not working

I am changing the sidebar size from the template manager/ style / layouts (see picture), but whatever number I set in the sidebar size, nothing changes. I have also tried to used the ID of the sidebar module to create add a rule (ID 734 with 45%). But no changes at all. The other controls, like template width work fine, the sidebar no at all. Am I doing something wrong ?
