Categories on Home Page?

I have a very simple question, it may be a dumb question, if so, I'm sorry!

I want to begin a new project with Shop & Buy.

But before I begin a mock up, I need to know if I can accomplish the following:

My goal is to put Categories, not Products, on the home page (where all the individual eyeglasses are shown on the demo). I assume this is possible?

It si possible, but I'm afraid there is no easy way. The module with eyeglases is News Show Pro and as its name says it was designed to show news/products not categories. So my best guess would be to take a demo with products and simply copy the code of it. Than in a clear HTML make changes for images, titles, links, descriptions and paste this code into a custom html module and publish instead.

Thanks for the quick answer. That might be a little over my head, technically. I don't see any Gavick pro templates that feature categories on the home page. Am I missing any? THANKS very much.

That's not what I had in mind It's a little technical, sure, but You just need to know a little about HTML nothing more. Below is a HTML I copied from demo with the part of this moduel but showing products. Idea is that You can use this code and simply replace links to images and links to categories, titles, so whole module will be static but pointing to categories:

Hi again, thanks for the explanation and quick response. One thing, see attached, the particular template I am interested in using is circled, called Shop & Buy...but I assume your advice would be applied just the same...

Yes, I know html, and just to confirm, would I manually replace each Product Link with the desired Category Links? As opposed to there being a setting in the module itself which requests categories rather than products?

Yes it's a global solution if module is not the way You want but requires the look of it.

I believe it would be a nice addon, but this module is designed to show articles/products, so categories was never the topic of display here.

Maybe a little late...

You just have to disable the module assigned to Mainbody position (if you installed the demo) and set the Home menu to Featured articles blog and you are ready to go.

Yes that's a way to show categories if VM category page type will be selected, but I believe the question was to use News Show Pro module and it's style. In this case using a direct html this module produce and replace images/titles/description with informations about categories is the only way, because NSP module is not meant to show categories directly (just products/articles which belong to them).
