Hi,

I've recently updated my Mac to OsX Mavericks, which requires Xampp to be upgraded (as older versions no longer work).

Sites that are hosted locally no longer work correctly.

The Virtuemart elements on the home page now show the following message:

Code: Select all
Deprecated: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/pitmaster5/libraries/joomla/filter/input.php on line 652

Deprecated: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/pitmaster5/libraries/joomla/filter/input.php on line 654

Is there a fix for this so i can continue to develop locally?

Thanks,

Steve

Im not xamp specialist but from the logs you are showing it has nothing to do with our templates (or quickstart package which is standard joomla + template + plugins + some sql data).
I would suggest to check if php version is correct, or jus switch to MAMP which works without any problems.

Try MAMP - it works ootb and you don't have to buy commercial version.

Well, yes, but is that because it contains an old version of PHP which will be updated sooner or later to create the same issue?

Right now most of hosting companies allow to select php version and mostly used is 5.x branch (or even olders).
When 5.5 will become a standard, we will update our code to suit it well.

Perhaps even the work is in progress - Ill ask our dev team about that.

Maybe there is a way to run XAMPP with oder PHP processor?

I have checked your code again - and it is not a problem of our templates or quickstart packages but general Joomla problem. If Joomla 2.x branch will update its core to support 5.5 PHP processor branch, then it will also be updated in our files.
