Virtuemar 2.6 upgrade

Hi,

We are using your Shop & Buy Joomla template for a new project Based on Gavern Framework v.3.11vm and we would like to know if we could upgrade Virtuemart to 2.6 version.

We installed quickstart and configure the template and products in Virtuemart 2.5x and we are working with Joomla! 2.5.20, but now we can see

UPDATE FOUND! CLICK TO UPDATE.2.6.0

When we are into Virtuemart.

The question is: Can web update to Virtuemart 2.6.0 without lose any data or configuration of Virtuemart?

Or we should update before the Shop & Buy template, and after update virtuemart?

In most cases you don't have to worry, but please:
1) make a full backup
2) update GK template also (before or just after) -- download new version from gavick download resources
