Hello,
I've always updated my templates (not many, but some) by backing up only overrides.css, favicon, logo.* and some other occasional images before installing the update.
I made today the very same thing with MSocial, but with my suprise I realized that a template K2 override (a way K2 handles the date format display) I made some time before had been overwritten.
I'm not sure but I don't remember it ever happend to me with other templates; as far as I remeber I'm used to back up only override.css and some minor stuff ...
I don't understand the logic in such template overrides behaviour: if they are supposed to preserve the changes you make by the updates (both Joomla and template) overwrite, why do they overwrite though?
I cannot remember all the template override I make, so it's difficult to remember wich one I'm supposed to keep.
Why do the documention is so lack of these stuff? Is there something I missed in updating templates? Even if I updated the template manually how can I remember which file I modified?
But the most important question is: what kind of update is the one that I'm allowed to ignore if I changed some code line files? Aren't those files supposed to be an update? Why do the override overrides? Can't you just avoid to include them in the update?
What kind of logic I'm missing?
Thanks
