Change login prompt

I have a general question regarding the login process of all of your templates. I would like to use the email / password as login credentials and not the username / password.

Is there any way to do this without use a module or plug-in?

Its more Joomla related question, but even if you would be able to do it with use of somekind of plugin, some template adjustements would be required.

Is there any way to change "LOG IN" "LOGOUT" text and
also "Login or Sign Up" text in pop up login module ??
