dear support team,

first of all i have to say that i am very happy with musicstate, its a very cool template :-)
and i hope you have relaxed christmas days.

when you are back at work i just want to know if it could be possible to use the login module position for another module.
i have a multilingual website and this position would be great for placing the language switcher into it. but when placing another module than "login" in the "login" position, every time the "login"-button appears. perhaps there is something to do to use this position for other modules!?

thanks for your help.
best,
frank

The login positon is dedicated to login module but you can add your new module position in login area. Step by step tutorial you will find here http://www.gavick.com/documentation/joomla-extensions/how-to-add-new-module-position/

hi,

i tried as you said but it seems that I have done something wrong

I entered a new position, added it to the framework and pasted the php code to the template.
please have a look here: http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/f0U5Gh

perhaps you can give me an advice what i have done wrong:
this is the domain: 2013.casa-nostra-music.de

this is the exact same problem (replace login position with lang-switcher):
http://www.gavick.com/forums/rockwall-j ... on#p148308
but with rockwall template.
Looks very easy. Perhaps there is the same easy way for music state?

thanks a lot

The way how you add new module position is exactly the same for all templates. The code from screenshot looks fine but did you publish some module there? Please try to add there some custom HTML module and I can check this in HTML code.

Yes in fact the 'hello world' text nowhere appears in your website HTML source. Probably I need to look your code fragment.

Hello, I'll hijack this thread for a moment since my question is rather similiar.

I am trying to put a language switcher just to the left of the login but have very limited knowledge in CSS. When publishing the module it appears on a a second row under the login. Like this: http://i.imgur.com/wLE3Cth.jpg

I did follow the steps in https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... -position/

My module is called "language".

Where and how should I edit the CSS/Position placement order of the module?
Best Regards,
Gustav

Please just show me URL to your website where this module is visible, I'm unable to help you without seeing your site because you've added custom module position.

Please add this code to override.css file in root/templates/gk_template_name/css directory :
Code: Select all
div.newstyle {float: left;
display: inline;
width: 100px;
position: absolute;
top: 20px;
right: 120px;}

and then just remember to enable "Use override CSS" option in template advanced settings tab.

You need to add new module position like @GREZEA did and then add the code from the topic. maybe the @GREZEA may share template changes with you?

Surely, however I did not replace the login module but placed another one(flags for language) next to it.

First of all you need to follow the guide from Gavick to create the module - https://www.gavick.com/documentation/joomla-templates/customizing-joomla-template/how-to-add-new-module-position/

After your module has been created, in my case I called it language and the style for it newstyle. Once you can find your module in the dropdown list please paste the following code kindly provided to me by bkrztuk in overrides.css in your template folder.

Code: Select all
div.newstyle {float: left;
display: inline;
width: 100px;
position: absolute;
top: 20px;
right: 120px;}

Also enable css overrides in your template config. If you want to I may share my files with you, send me a PM in that case.

dear support team, dear grezea,

thanks for your help. unfortunately it isnt working for me.

1) i created the position "langswitcher"

http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/5B9WD8

2) i edited gk.const.php (and entered the "langstyle" css)

http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/3V0C45

3) i edited the default.php

http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/S19731

(should be in in the mainmenu before/left of the login)

4) i edited the override.css

http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/CX99K7

(allow overrides is enabled in the template settings)

5) i published the module

http://flickr.com/gp/90498053@N03/o7Mb72

but it wont work, there is nothing to see in the frontend.

i dont know what i am doing wrong, any advice would be very appreciated.

thanks a lot

Please try to publish some custom HTML module on this position to see whether it is working or not. Maybe it is not module position issue but just wrong language settings.

Please send me FTP access details via PM because for sure the problem is somewhere inside your code. Remember to include link to this forum topic.

Hi,

in the meantime the website is gone online :-)
I have a language switcher on the right:

www.casa-nostra-music.de

But when visiting the website mobile (smartphone) the language switcher is to close at the logo.
so it doesnt look nice and you cant klick on the language switcher anymore, because you will be redirected to the frontpage (klicking on the logo) then.

How it is possible creating a margin between logo and language switcher?

thanks a lot.

Please add this code to mobile.css file :

div.langstyle { float: right; right: 0 } and after this modification your mobile version should look like on this screenshot
