Hi,
I have changed the layout on the front page but now banners have the black border on top.I was wondering how to fix that?

Could you post your site somewhere temporary? Without an access to a live site I cant help much more .

Without an access to a live site I cant help much more .
You can try using FireBug or Chrome DeveloperTools to inspect elements and find out why there is additional spacing/color.
