footer widget width

I'm trying to use 5 columns and newsletter form in my footer, similar to the demo.
Problem is, every time I add the newsletter widget or a search widget, it takes up 50% of the footer space, squishing my 5 columns.
How can i tweak the width of the search/newsletter form? I have tried assigning a custom css class using the custom css option under widget style, but it has not had any effect.

Please add custom css class "double" into your first widget from bottom3 widget area.
