module positions in News 2 template

Why attached map of module positions are different from names of the module positions in my joomla template?
For example in my joomla template I can't see "mainmenu" position.

The greeyed ones are template specific and can't be accessed.

OK, in my template there are also positions like: menu1, menu2, menu3, etc. Where they appear on the map?

Are you sure those are not Beeze/Protostar/other installed templates positions?
