I have both my php.ini and Joomla! timezone settings in the global configuration to my current location in the EDT Time Zone, which is four hours behind GMT. However, the #gkupdates field, while displaying the correct time zone, displays the actual time (HH:MM) as GMT, instead of EDT. Why might this be?

Hi

Can be a database time different, but there is nothing to worry about. It will not have an impact on updates. You may just need to wait 4h more to see that update was released, that's all.

I don't believe that's the problem, unfortunately. I've waited far over four hours and it hasn't updated anything. However, the time on the bottom of the article reflects the correct time, (12:150 in my case), but the #gkupdates doesn't. If this isn't easily fixable it isn't a big deal, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Hi

Time in article is created in php and than saved in database so this would not catch that issue. But this can also be while reading the time from xml on our server. Either way it has no impact on site's performance.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem then? I'm unable to change the time set for the MySQL database as per restrictions set in place by my hosting provider, does that affect anything?

Hi

It will not. It's a common problem a lot of ppl has. There are just 2 problems I know about caused by this time difference, but both got workarounds attached to modules already. Please do not worry about that :)
