GK Image Show Loading Time!

Hi,

Is there an option to reduce or eliminate the loading time of gk image show when you visit or refresh the website?
It seems annoying for the visitors.

Also if i replace the gk image show with a custom image in the same position and with the same dimensions (1720x896) it doesn't fit perfectly (see file attached).

You can use smaller (more compressed) images. image show loading depends also on Internet connection speed. Regarding the image with the same dimensions, could you provide an URL to your website? (here or via PM) Then I'll be able to check it exactly.

As i can see your default image is only 77kb and the second slider only 22kb. I don't know if it possible to compress the images more without losing the quality.

Currently the website is not live and i use Xampp to run it in my computer.
So i can't provide you with an url.
I will have problem with responsive layout If i use a custom image?

Our default images are compressed enough, but I think that we are talking about your own images.
Image show on our demo website also loads slowly on your browser?

Regarding responsive layout with custom image - you should don't have any problem with the image on mobile/tablets - you can also replace (use smaller) image on tablet/mobile - I can help you with that if you want.

You can also change the slide image dimensions, then change image show width/height in the widget settings.

Yes in your demo it loads slowly in my browser. Just seems annoying to take 3 sec to load 77kb image.

When my website is going live i will send you the url to take a look with the custom image dimensions.

I agree it is annoying to get loading time.
I was wondering if it is possible to add one simple image in that position (rather than the gallery).
This is my url: http://www.qsfc.com.au/dev/
As you can see, I use only one image in the gallery, so I would prefer to eliminate the gallery and add the image by itself, but I had the same problem as speedakias, even with the correct size it doesn't fit.
I've tried using a text widget.

Try to edit University/js/gk.scripts.js file (lines 413 and 415).
change value '500' to i.e. '50' and '1000' to '100'

It speeds it up. But I think it would be faster if I could add a single image rather than the slider with 1 images.

Is there anyway to simply add the image by itself?

It's not possible - it requires a lot of changes in GK Image Show widget (University/gavern/widgets.imageshow.php file)
