Change Icons to Picture

I know i can use the font awesome icons but they are too dark. How do i change the icons on the home page to a png or jpg file or how do i use make font awesome icons white and not blank. thanks

first idea.... Awesome fonts are FONTS(!), so like for fonts you can change them color using CSS (color: red, color:yellow, etc.)
