Link on Gallery page

I am using the same styling as this page

and would like to add a link in the description to go to another content page.

Although the link displays correctly, all it does is bring up the large image and does not go to the page.

I have tried several things to break the figure class="gk-photo gk-photo-left but nothing seems to work

I guess we are talking about link from image, not from description text because there works okey.
This is specific gallery which works as you see.
If you do not need zoom popup, you have two options:
1) Customize gallery code
or
2) Instead gallery use you own layout based on div's with images where you have more control how it works etc.
this is so simple that each person who know basic of CSS can do it.
