How to update to v3.14

I am notified the newer version v3.14 is available.
Is the update mandatory from v3.13 ?

How to safe update to keep the current custom contents ?

My Joomla is 3.3.6, latest version.
I'd like to update only template with keeping my current contents.

If you haven't done any changes to template core files, than update should go without any problems.
Just do the backup before, just in case
