Menu Button Not Working Anymore

Hi there, I went back to finish a site I was working on using Writer template and seems the menu button does not function anymore.

I am pretty sure I had it working when I last left it, so I loaded up the demo page on your site and it seems to have the same issue. It seems to only do it in Chrome but IE/firefox etc are ok.

Could you please be more detailed? What OS, what version of browser?
Could you please post an url to your site?

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

But your demo page has the same problem as my site so if you check there you can see it. It is Chrome, the build I am using is Version 43.0.2357.81 m. It was like this before updating as well.

Thanks.

The demo works completely fine. Please verify with chrome in incognito mode and let me know if that changes anything.

Hi there again.

That had no effect unfortunately. Very strange that it would work on your end and not mine, as well as not on my own modified template of Writer either in Chrome.

Please check if you see any js errors in chrome dev tools console.

I checked but there are no errors.

I also used another 2 PCs to check on your demo page and it still has the same problem in Chrome. Did you check recently?

Because all 3 different PCs have the same problem with the button not working :(

Thanks.

Hi Cyberek. Any advice on this issue? Cause multiple PCs all do the same thing on your demo site even.

Thanks.

I dont unfortunately. I am waiting for help still :(

At least now they can see the issue is not with me (even though its multiple PCs that have the issue). All the PCs I have tried this on have all been Windows 7/8.1. I havent tried a Mac PC whivh I am guessing Cyberrek is using.

I managed to test it on a Mac using Chrome, and it works fine. So it seems the Windows version of Chrome is different somehow with the menu button behaviour not working.

I'll post this issue to our devteam.
Ps. Please do not bump the thread in future (multiple replies in same thread without moderator reply) - it makes you wait longer :(.

Hello,

Could you provide me your version of Windows and Chrome?

I've tested our demo and our test version of the template used for Quickstarts on:

Chrome 43 @ Windows 8.1
Chrome 43 @ Windows 8
Chrome 42 @ Windows 8
Chrome 43 @ Windows 7
Chrome 42 @ Windows 7
Chrome 43 @ Windows XP

In all cases it is working fine for me - I've tested it via BrowserStack so I've always used clean browser without 3rd party extensions which can cause conflicts.

PC 1 : Chrome 43 Windows 8.1
PC 2 : Was running on Chrome 35 but updated it to 43 and same issue. Windows 7
PC 3: Macbook Air running OSX workins fine. Windows 8.1 also seems to work ok.

PC1 and PC2 I have tried running in Incognito mode which doesnt run extensions I believe? Still same issue. I have been trying to work out why it would be doing this but cannot work it out.

Then I see someone else having the same issue in the previous comments, so it just must be something more common then I'd think.

The problem also occurs on our demo?

Do you have a PC with touch screen?

I've just made an additional test on Windows 8.1 @ Parallels and also there I cannot reproduce your issue at Chrome 42 and Chrome 43. So unfortunately currently I'm unable to confirm you issue and also I'm unable to debug it as there is no install where can I observe this issue.

I've also run my Windows 10 Technical Preview with Chrome 43 and also on this install this issue not exist.

If we will have more user reports regarding this issue we will try to find some another way to solve this problem, but now it seems just like strange case with a specific configurations.

Ok thanks.

I have my Surface connected up all hubs and other stuff on it. I will see if I can disable or try the touch for that webpage to see what it does.

I will try and use a new Chrome profile or reinstall it to see if it makes any difference. I really dont see why it would work on some and not others when extensions have nothing to do with it as theyre disabled etc.

I really need it working on this PC as its my main working PC too with all my web & adobe software on it. Using other web browser devtools to edit etc is a bit of a pain or I'd do that.

Hi again,

I used the Surface's screen withoout changing anything or unplugging anything and it would open the menu. So it seems the code cant accept a mouse click action if its on a tablet? Is there any way for you to update that?

However the Ultrabook I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didnt work. It also is not a touch device either.

Thanks.

Currently we have no way to debug this issue - we will try to find some solution for it and include it in the next update, but as you can see - it needs a very specific configuration. So for most of the users the problem doesn't exist.

however, on a diff domain, using same template n set up at https://ipolicymagazine.com/

the menu works.

weird!

chrome Version 43.0.2357.124 m

testing on FF and IE yields the same result.

@ihtmag - in your case issue is caused by JS error in the console - first of all please disable JS compression.
