Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to PlgSystemRedirec

HI,

We have just updated our site to Joomla 3.6 and received the following error when navigating to the site:

Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to PlgSystemRedirect::handleError() must be an instance of JException, instance of Exception given in /home/bb/public_html/plugins/system/redirect/redirect.php on line 65

I then installed the update to the template to see if this fixed the issue but I am still receiving the same error.
