Dears,
In the lists for each category, is it possible to change what's being shown? I have articles that I have moved from my old website and none of them have "read more" tag so if I use the category list of articles it will show the whole article and the text of each article will be smashed to the next one. (Demo example is attached)
Thanks

Hi

Category layout displays so called "introtext" and this introtext is created by using "page-break" in article. Basically text over page-break is an introtext and below "full-text". If there is no page-break than everything is an introtextYou will have to add a page-break to each of the articles which doesn't have it.

Or You can go to category settings, category item settings section and set the number or words to display, so the text will be cut more or less equally.

Thanks, I was able to set it as you described in category listings.
On the other hand, to do the same in Main menu items (Menu item type > K2 > Category), I could not find this option. So in results, by clicking the menu the layout would be wrong. Is there any way that it can be done there as well? (Please see the attached screenshot)

Your kind advice would be much appreciated.

Hi

Settings from menu are only used when multiple categories has been selected since joomla cannot guess which category settings use than. Any single category layout will use settings from a category configuration directly.

Hi,

I couldn't solve it on menu.
I configured 2 categories to have the limit to 10 words, so when I click on each category, both show fine separately. But when I assign a menu to show K2>Category listing, and add both of these categories, the whole text gets shows.
I checked the parameters settings on K2 categories and there we do not have word limit like we do in each category configuration. the K2 categories parameters have only the option to limit RSS feed display.

I would be thankful if you could help me with this.

Hi

I cannot see a limitation for introtext either. This means You should report this to K2 developers, becuase I believe such option should be available in menu options when more than one category is selected. For now I can advice to create a new K2 category. Move both of this categories to is, so You will have them as subcacegories. The parent category can be selected to show category content and it's settings will be used to limit number of words.

Dear teitbite,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I followed you advice and reported the issue to K2 developers. I hope they're as quick and accurate as you are so this would be solved for everyone. I will post the solution here once they have an answer for me.
While your suggestion works perfectly and moving the two categories to another parent will solve the problem, I found a plugin named "Content - Auto Read More" which can do the trick for those articles which does not have a read more break in them. I have solved it using this until K2 developers reply to me.

Thanks for the kind support.

Hi

Great. I was not aware of this plugin. I'm afraid this is not considered as an issue, it's simply that such option to limit content was not provided for multiple category selection, but hopefully they will be able to at least tell You how to override it.
