Joomla 1.7.3 mainbody and module conflicts

Hi,

got some problems in migrating all articles coming from my current Joomla 1.5 webpage.
This is my basic configuration.
Pic 1.jpg

New articles-whatever section I have put them into- can't be dispalyed.
Pic 2.jpg

Most of the modules from frontpage are only displayed there and give room for the articles in subpages. Nope, the frontpage does't react as I had configured.

BUT when I press no.4 in my new articles...it works. That's strange, isn't it?!

Look and see on http://www.rs-meinersen.de/jupgrade

Joomla 1.7.3
Jupgrade in subfolder of current main folder for Joomla 1.5
Same databank for current & Joomla 1.7

:?: Do you have any ideas. Migrating to Joomla 1.7 almost finished by now. :?:

Best regards.

uhecht

Has anyone got an idea?

Hi

The module positions can be called differently in both versions of the template. But I need a clearer explenation, I'm probably to tired right now to understand what the real problem is. Please let make it step by step. One problem at a time.

Hi teitbite,

first of all-thank you for responding.

Okay I will try to explain the problems more clearly and will cut them into more pieces to get through step by step.

Most important problem to be fixed:

A few articles can not be displayed on my frontpage. All these articles had been migrated from Joomla 1.5.25 to the latest Joomla 1.7.3. into modules.

These articles are listed in modules:
- News Pro (position top 2)
- Most read (position user)
- Newest article (position user as well)

Other articles are fine so far.
The screenshots should only show my basic configuration on the template.

Thanx,

I think I have a theory.

As I reported before, my Joomla 1.7.3 is a product of a migration process via JUPGRADE.
This Joomla tool put the upgraded version into a subfolder of the original Joomla 1.5.25 folder.

I checked a lot of URLs my articles are linked to. Surprisingly I found out that the not-willing-to-display-arcticles all have got a strange URL.

    These URLs look like this:
    .../jupgrade/index.php/9-news/newsflash/138-bla bla

All the articles which can be dispalyed have got such URLs:
      /jupgrade/index.php/paedagogisches93/deutschkurse106

The categories' IDs are behind as well as the arcticles' IDs. And can be displayed.

Why the hack are there two different ways in indexing articles and categories?

      Hi

Articles are trying to display on a frontpage, but You have disabled showing a component, so nothing was visible. This is a problem with wrong menu structure. Each article needs it's own landing page. Please take a look here http://wiki.gavick.com/questions/how-to ... s-working/

      Hi teitbite,

got the problem solved!!! Thank you very much. As reported in the article (your link) there may cause some problems in correct-working URLs to articles.

      What did I do?
      1. I checked all the categories and set up new menu items with the menu manager.
      2. These menu items I put on status 'special' for not being displayed or hidden on my frontpage.
      3. Linked the new menues with the desired modules, menue type category list
      4. Checked the articles category option and corrected them
      5. Inside template configuration / basics: set back to mainbody only
      6. subpages to component only

===> it is working out of all modules placed on my frontpage. Brilliant!!

Thx so far- have another mini-problem..pagination is floating top-right instead of module-inside. Will post it if I can't find a suitable posting here.

      regards

      Hi

Please add "[space]nsp" suffix on News Show Pro GK4 modules.

      Cheers ;)
