HI,

Have done a few websites now, but just want to ask what is the correct way forward.

Once you are happy with your website, do you generally delete all the other modules and articles in the quickstart template via article manager and module manager, or is it best to just 'unpublish' them.

From a google and sitemap perspective, would it be best to delete the unused pages?

Can the pages still be crawled / indexed by google if they are 'unpublished'?

Hi,
very good question.
1) Articles - delete them all, also from Joomla Trash, you will reduce size of MySQL database
2) Modules - also.

This allows you to have better , clean environment.
BTW Google cannot read unpublished modules or articles.

Hi Oscar,

I've tried a few times to delete all the K2 articles, categories and menus, but then the website crashes. I've also tried to uninstall the whole K2 component but i get the same error - 1062.

Is there a way to get rid of all the unnecessary K2 content? I don't use it and it really bothers me.

Thanks

Lilia

K2 keeps data in database even when you will uninstall component.
But more mess are generated by modules, cache, and check also homepage menu item.

about modules, joomla have also "trash" you have to remove modules also from it

Sorry but i didn't quite get it.

Does that mean that of i delete the cache, modules, menus and so on items related to K2 i can also delete K2?

In general all GK QuickStart is full of unnecessary garbage - even more that you can imagine.
So you have check what you don't need anymore and delete from published and them trashed view, then uninstall.
But be careful... to not trow away too much.
