I've read up on Gavern, and I'm really excited to see how prepared the Gavick Team is for J! 1.6.

I have long been looking to major developers to determine their preparedness for Joomla 1.6. Thankfully all the really big names are on board. There is one though I am still concerned about. K2.

K2 faces major challenges in redundancy, and unless there have been developments I am not aware of, I don't think they are ready to strip out some of their features to work better with J 1.6. Unfortunately, most of the writing and discussions on the subject are out of date, and they all became a shouting matches (JW is great, but you got to admit they can be sensitive).

Since all Gavick sites have for sometime now included K2, I wanted to get everyone's insight and knowledge on the subject. What is the Future of K2?

For me, I will need to see a version that only addresses need. I don't like useless redundancy.

Hi

Our project must keep on tracks, even if K2 is not ready for J!1.6, of course.
If so, new projects will not have K2 style support (naturally), but they will be updated when K2 is available.

From projects with T3 framework to Gavern framework, upgrade will be done with or without K2. Again, K2 style support can be added any time.

Basic idea is this: GavickPro will keep K2 support on their projects.

For Gavick Members that have their projects with K2 support, naturally must wait for K2 component before upgrading GavickPro templates.

Cheers ;)

Just 1 question!!!

I don't want to update my template that use T3 framework (sporter) because I've done a lot of customization on it. My question is: Will you provide compatibility to Joomla 1.6 also for template realized with T3 Framework?

Thanks in adv,

Cheers.

I'm sorry, but that is not in our plans.
Since we develop Gavern Framework exclusively for J!1.6, we will not work on T3 framework (with our changes) to next level of Joomla!.

Even if we did, you still add to do some adjustment work, right?
What i can say for cases like yours with own customization, i would not worry a lot, because probably it's not so hard to work on Gavern framework like you probably think ;) .

Cheers

I saw this coming months ago, I dug into Jreviews code and created a few large projects with it and never looked back. It's also more flexible than K2 so I would advise spending $200 or what ever I paid for it to keep your work flow going, one of my better investments.

I've also integrated JR into K2, I've replaced it's rating system and added a reviews system to K2. I just never liked K2, never liked having it jammed down my gullet, so I kept up with both components. Besides Jreviews has been stable with 1.6 for months.
