Below an interesring article about the really short release cycle (6 months) for Joomla 1.6

As I've said before, with the way they are proposing to implement updates to Joomla over the next year or so to v1.8, I don't see any point whatsoever in bothering with either 1.6 or 1.7 for the moment, just wait for 1.8. No sooner have you got to grips with either 1.6 or 1.7 a new version will be out again that changes everything once again. This doesn't even take into account the constant "bug fixes" that will be coming out for 1.6/1.7 that we've seen so far nor does it take into account the incompatibility with the huge amount of components/modules/plugins that is currently out there.

We're sticking to 1.5 for the moment . . . :)
