Update module etc

How to update module, component, template etc...

in every update there is a readme to it saying what need to be replaced.

I dont see it... when I click on download link of update it redirect me to the template and what to download! template?
After i have downloaded template in my case (myStore) I havent found any update readme file...
Another question,can I update to latest version or I have to download each update separately.. I have currently version 1.0.0.

I have working site (web shop) and it is active, but It isn't displaying in IE7 correctly. I have modified "order" in virtuemart, will it affect it with update!

I have downloaded updated module latest version and replaced files and I have still the same version of the module (news pro v 1.4.)
This is the hardest thing I have stumble on Joomla (I was technical support for one of yours competition) wtf

We do not have an update packages but the files to download are always the newest version, so basicly downloading the module from our site and overwritting it (in some cases database modification) will give You the newest version running. All informations about which files has been changed in an update are available in the specific update page.

Is this some kind of joke, from all "support staff" I get the same answer

There is a possibility that You are not changing the file where the versions number is shown, but You still have it updated.
