I try to set up 2 columns i Joomla, but it don't work. I don't know if this is done intentionally or there is something wrong with the template, but how can I fix this?

I really don't think that template builders should remove core Joomla-features. You buy a Joomla template to save time, not to fix things that should have been there in the first place...

That's a pity. No support for this by the Gavick team?

Both of ya hold your horses, Gavick hasn't taken any of the core features away from joomla, but they have extented the capability of joomla 10 times over. Now explain to me what exactly your trying to do and I'll try to help you.

Now if your talking about the default blog layout, having multiple columns is acheived by the DEFAULT category layout perameters. These settings are in every category and have nothing to do with Gavick...

Now say Sorry Gavick Team!!! We Love You!!!

First thank you for your reply. Second, for what do I have to apologize? I just asked if there is any help from Gavick to solve the issue. I didn't complain even you could sometimes.

Regarding the problem: I know where to set the columns and this doesn't help. As it worked before using this Gavick template I assume that it is a problem with the template. Or do you maybe have another idea?

Select another template and see if the function returns, you might even select in the gavivk template to display the front end before the module. othe than that I'm out of ideas.

I know the front end works on all gavick templates if you set them up that way.

As you suggested I tried it with a different template and there it works. Could it be that this error occurs because I "removed" the grey K2 Column on the left hand side as explained in another thread?

Well it depends on the templates module position layout. if you have left modules or inset modules there may not be enough room to display the com_content blogs. They may be active but under a div and can't be seen.

Set the template so it displays mainbody and deactivate all left, right and inset modules and see if it appears

Unfortunately this didn't help. The only activated positions were right2, top, footer and bottom. I deactivated them but still no second column appears.

Well looks like I stand corrected, Seems the template for com_content has been altered, actually I bet it has been replaced. in the template look in the html folder. If there is a com_content folder just rename it to com_contentx and it should go back to the default template used for all joomla's you will then see the columns but you will lose the big dates.

I appreciate your help but it didn't help either. I tried it on two different server, with the original files and with the files I already adapted - both didn't work.

wow! man this is over my head then. I know the template has a com_content template. I just looked into the com_content and there is a front page template in there. That is the one that is altering the display of the front page. I your saying you moved it or renamed it and it still looked like Gavicks I would find that hard to understand

Hi

Thanks Mongo for help. I would start from removing com_content form the template's html/ folder and see what it gives. Remember to make a backup first.
