Turn register off

i have turned register off in template settings... but why is it still there?

FYI if your working on J 1.6 new user registration there a plugin were you need to enter your recaptcha code for it to work

For Joomla 1.5:
I had the same problem, and this is what I did:
In the Joomla lang folder, look for en-GB.tpl_gk_postnote.ini
Change "GK_REGISTER=Register" to "GK_REGISTER=" (leave it blank)

That worked for me.
